About
Hi, Welcome to the pre-launch site for “Podcast-Monetizer”
You may have been directed to this site by a recent interview I did with Robert Scoble for “The ScobleShow”. You may also have arrived here via a link from Paul Colligans “Profitable Podcasting”. If you’ve not heard the interview with Paul, you might want to check it out as it gives some good background on how this idea developed and some of the background to why I decided to put this project together.
The announcement was of a new project I’m currently working on to enable new or existing independant podcasters create an automated membership-based infrastructure to allow them to monetise their podcasts.
Some Background
My name is Don McAllister and I’ve been running a successful video podcast called ScreenCastsOnline since August 2005.
Back in March 2006 I re-launched ScreenCastsOnline as a membership based podcast delivering both “free” and “pay for” premium content. The take up of the membership based service and the addition of supplemental revenue streams has been so successful, that it has enabled me to give up my highly paid IT consultant job and become a full time podcaster.
Initially, I used lots of manual steps and processes to manage my membership service but over time I’ve been implementing and integrating automated systems to help manage all aspects of my podcast. These include:
* Automatic Membership Subscription & Management
* Automatic Mailing List Integration
* Integration of PayPal and other Payment Gateways
* Shopping Cart Integration
* Website Customisation based on Membership
* Creation and Management of Muliple Secure RSS feeds
* Running coupon promotions
* Affiliate schemes
* Member Forums
* and much more…..
basically everything you need to run a Membership based podcast!
In June 2007 I’ll be launching a tutorial package that will show you how to implement these automated systems to enable you to monetise your podcast and benefit from the experiences I’ve had in setting up ScreenCastsOnline and turning it into a revenue generating operation.
The tutorial package will be based on the tools I’ve been using to run ScreenCastsOnline and I’ll show you how to set them up from scratch, but more importantly, how to integrate them to make them more effective.
It’s not rocket science but it’s taken me months to find the tools and learn how to use them properly (and tweak the integration needed). The tutorial package will contain full instructions on implementing and customising the tools and will include both written and video tutorials (I’ve some experience in producing screencasts!)
Update: As well as the DIY approach, another potential service I may be able to provide is the development of a fully managed subscription-based podcast infrastructure - you provide the content, I’ll provide the underlying infrastructure. Details to follow….
If you’d like to be kept informed on how the project is developing and get some additional information on what the package will contain (even possibly get access to some pre-release material when it’s ready), please register below and I’ll send keep you up to date on progress - No Spam Guaranteed!
