Why Feedburner is trouble (Scripting News)

Dave Winer (the godfather of RSS) has a piece on his blog about why Feedburner is a bad idea.
Feedburner is a service now owned by Google which allows you to “enhance” your RSS with some additional functionality plus gives you some metrics on who is subscribing to your feeds.
I also held the view that Feedburner was more trouble than it was worth and was also suspicious of “giving” my feed to another company. The acquisition by Google made me rethink this and when they decided to give away previously premium facilities for free, I took a closer look.
The whole issue of not giving away your feed is no longer an issue due to the Feedburner service called “MyBrand” This allows you to use your domain settings to “point” to a feedburner feed. It used to cost but now it’s free.
It allows you an exit strategy if you decide to move away from feedburner by giving you control over your feeds.
Now that it’s a free service, it’s a no brainer.
