The tools and knowledge to monetize your Podcast

Dock-2.pngOne of the main differences between last year and this year in the Podcast and New Media Expo were the visible signs that podcast monetization was no longer frowned upon.

I met many people who were interested in the business aspects of podcasting and I would think the majority of people there were starting to realise the business potential of podcasting. We’ve definitely moved out of the realm of the hobbyist although it’s always good to know that podcasting as a hobby is still perfectly valid.

One of the people I met was Fred Castaneda, host of the “Gain Control of Your Day” and “The Struggling Entrepreneur” Podcasts. Fred is a also a ScreenCastsOnline viewer!

He was kind enough to invite me onto his Podcast to discuss some of the business aspects of moving ScreenCastsOnline from a hobby podcast to my full time job. The audio quality isn’t brilliant but it might be worth a listen if you’re thinking of adopting a similar path.

You can find the interview here where you can listen online or subscribe via itunes

What I agree with - you work hard, you’re honest/forthcoming/transparent/professional.
    I wish you luck . . .!
I’m really going to have to join soon, I feel guilty putting it off like this.
The people who support you technically in the forum, are they professionals ? - they seem to know a lot.
What did you work at ?

    Thanks Mike!

The guys in the forum are all volunteers and as you say, know a frightening amount about the mac. I really appreciate the help they give me on the forum.

Before I became a “New Media Producer”, I worked as an IT consultant specialising in Systems and Enterprise management.
